IB challenged me, both in terms of difficulty and volume of work, which served as great preparation for both university and work afterwards. Perhaps even more valuable than the knowledge itself, are the habits of persistence, time management and hard work that one is forced to develop going through the IB program.
Some students choose to take regular classes compared to IB based on the hypothesis they can achieve higher grades; that might be true, but it misses the point. The habits of humility, persistence, and working together with peers that are required to succeed in university and beyond are the most valuable aspects of the IB program. Focusing on the best opportunity to obtain high grades is short-term thinking; IB is an investment that will pay off for many years to come.
Park View Class of 2010
Aside from all the educational stuff, IB is fun. I will always look back at my experiences at Park View fondly, because of the opportunities I had, and the people with whom I connected. The bonding that takes place in those intimate classrooms is phenomenal…….. IB classes do not consist of a teacher instructing his or her students, it involves active learning where everyone in the classroom contributes to the acquisition of knowledge. We chose to experience high school differently, and we intended to get everything out of that experience.

The IB program allowed me to build a solid, dependable group of friends who motivated each other. Taking on the challenge of the IB courses taught me time management when balancing school, work, extra-curricular and family/friend time.

I believe IB was a very helpful program that was definitely worth the extra challenge. I met many great friends in my IB classes and had many wonderful teachers. The challenge of IB during Grade 12 makes first year university seem easy! You are so much better prepared for future academic endeavours because of IB classes in high school.

IB sounded a bit intimidating, but I am very passionate about Fine Arts, and without the IB Art program and my amazing teacher I don’t think I would be the person or artist I am today.
First year student at Mount Allison University
Having undertaken the IB program, I was required to push my boundaries and work hard to succeed. My IB experience prepared me in many ways for my university classes and has truly given me the opportunity to do my best. It was great to be a part of a group of people who shared the same enthusiasm for learning.
Park View Class of 2013
We are glad the IB program is available at Park View. We feel that it is important to challenge society’s next generation of leaders so that they develop to their fullest potential. Having the IB program available in this area was a significant part of our decision to settle in Lunenburg County and raise our family here.

IB taught me the work ethic required to be successful throughout the duration of my education, both at Park View and at university. IB courses cover a broad range of material and give you an advantage in your first year of university. Additionally, through the IB program I have made some amazing friendships with people that have similar interests; it is a great way to start high school as you feel very welcomed and like you are part of a community!

IB courses are the perfect opportunity to enrol in classes with people who are genuinely passionate about learning. IB challenged me and turned me into the driven and prepared student I am today. My IB courses definitely gave me the skills to succeed. Thank-you IB!!
Student at Mount St. Vincent University
I think one of the most important things for me about the IB program was that it always challenged me to think bigger, to challenge the status quo, and to believe that anything is possible (with a little hard work!).
Park View Class of 1990
The main reason I enrolled in IB courses was for the academic challenge. It was nice to sit in a classroom where all the students wanted to be there to learn. My IB experience has helped me find my true self, as well as an inner balance. It also helped me have a smoother transition into post-secondary.
Park View Class of 2018
IB English was a very enjoyable and valuable experience. It helped me to greatly increase my essay writing skills and it encouraged me to think more critically and abstractly when interpreting creative texts. I cannot imagine going to university without the skills I acquired by taking this course, for it increased my confidence in my writing and critical analysis skills.
Park View Class of 2017
I wish I could come to Park View and convince students there that they should do the IB program! I only profited from it! The challenge, the pressure and the expectations may be high but they only prepare you for university and on the long-run also for your life. I want to thank all my teachers from Park View for having supported me and for having had so much patience. Those have been the best two years of school life ever!
Park View Class of 2009
I’m really glad to hear that the IB program is still going strong at Park View. It’s really a tremendously valuable program, especially since it helped me not just learn information but learn how to think about information in a variety of disciplines. Twenty years afterward, I can confidently say that has been one of the most useful things I’ve gained from all my schooling.
